I know we talk a lot about nutrition, but that’s because 80% of your health and weight loss goals are directly attributed to what you eat. It’s SO much more than fitness, so we need you to be on board for the 23 hours we don’t get to see you! More specifically, our nutrition philosophy is centered around the Paleo Diet. However, I believe that “diet” frequently has a negative connotation to it. Am I correct? Do you think of restricting calories? Crash dieting? Crazy juice fasts?
What does the word “diet” even mean? Dictionary.com defines it as a particular selection of food, especially as designed or prescribed to improve a person’s physical condition or to prevent or treat a disease: a diet low in sugar.
Now let me ask you, in that definition does it say anything about restriction? NO! Diet is simply the food we consume on a daily basis. It can be good or it can be bad. It’s only a choice. How bad do you really want to lose weight? Crash dieting will never change your lifestyle or improve your thoughts on a “diet.”
Why do we like the Paleo Diet? Because you are consuming whole foods that have not been processed!… Period! The only reason people consider it restrictive is because most of us are sugar addicts. We crave bread, grains, pastas, candy, alcohol, etc. which overloads our carb (sugar) intake. Did you know that too many carbs/sugar is what makes us fat? Ready for the kicker…FAT does NOT make you fat! Think about that!
If you want to get healthy and be the fittest person YOU can be. YOU are going to have to change your lifestyle for the better. In doing so, you will improve your diet! Just like our body, it’s all interconnected!
